Saturday 19th of August 2017 saw the town square filled with family’s having fun in the sunshine at this years Chamber of Commerce Family Fun Day. Launceston Chamber is well known for its fantastic Christmas Events and Fashion Show, but this year sees some additional events coming to our town throughout the other seasons too. The fun day offered food, drink, rides and games, crafts and activities, face paint, hair styling and more. Tables were laid out in the square for family’s to sit out and enjoy their food in the sunshine and a town trail with a pirate theme was created for family’s to follow and win prizes. Speaking at the event, Irena Jordi-Slater, Chamber Chair, said ” It has been a Brilliant day so far, lots of families enjoying the town trail and fun in the square. Our new chamber events committee have worked hard to bring a new event to the town for families to enjoy, we look forward to working on our next event very soon.”

A real mix was on offer around the square; Many Members got involved including Firebrand who had the BBQ roaring and offered a range of drinks and food, plus Gingerbread Man Decorating for the children. Sandy and The Mad American team were offering hair art and more in aid of Help The Hero’s, Irena our chair was manning the Chamber main stall, handing out town maps and entertaining the children with the crafts and games, local artist Karen Farrington was selling her local art cards to name a few. Plus other business came along offering food and drink and face painting. This first event of the new team was a real success and one to build on as we move forward.

We now need to get ready for our autumn and winter events and will be working on them from our next full chamber meeting, watch this space!
