We were thrilled to yet again, have a stand at the annual Launceston Show this summer. (July 2016) We were pitched next door to Launceston Golf Club and just along from the town council and the tourist information tent. Great to be able to offer information to residents (and visitors a like) of what the chamber offers its members and of course more importantly what we do within the local community.
Sue Isslieb from Hazard (and current acting Chair of the chamber), Gemma Massey of TME Networking (and Cornwall Councillor for Launceston Central) – along with family and friends as helpers, manned the stand through the day. (Thanks to the team at Launceston TIC for setting up the bulk of it the night before!) Speaking to residents, handing out yet more Love Launceston Loyalty cards and of course making the most of the sunshine and showers by meeting other local (and regional) businesses throughout the day.
New members were signed up to the chamber, who are now looking forward to attending their first meeting in September. Lots of Loyalty cards were issued and residents were also keen to get involved with some more of the chamber activities such as the Christmas lights, late night shopping and more!
A great day was had by all- rounded off with the Young Farmers Dumpy Bag Sack Race! Our team of four took to the main show ring and gave it their all. Taking on the Young Farmers, Castle Vets, The Members and more in a straight “Dumpy Bag” sack race. It was a real team effort and once we had held on tight to each other and got a “Bouncy” rhythm, we were on our way! After a few falls and a lot of effort, we came a solid forth,….. out of four! But a great attempt and a fantastic way to end the day on a high.
Thank you to everyone who came over to our stand, to expressed an interest in the chamber and its work and more importantly offered support to the chamber members, its activities and the loyalty card. See you there, next year!
